A wastegate blanket works in a very similar way to a Turbo Jacket. After all, they experience very similar conditions to turbos. Both have High flowing exhaust gas through them and both emit high temperatures and heat energy. This hot surface area can over time cause a wastegate issues or boost creep due to the internal diaphragm becoming weak and failing. A better-protected wastegate can ensure a more consistent performing turbo for a longer lifespan of the turbo.

These blankets also retain maximum reliability on surrounding components as well as slowing down the exhaust gases! This can also cause the wastegate to not function efficiently. Wastegate blankets are a simple solution, which secures tightly in place using the supplied locking wire, and performs very similarly to a turbo blanket! Reducing heat soak, increasing exhaust gas flow, and reducing back pressure in the exhaust system.

External waste gate blankets are designed to sit around the body of the wastegate to provide a snug fit that would produce an insulated gate, providing the protection required for your high performance car.

Common racing or industrial applications use our silver thermal sleeve to improve the performance of their cooling system. Reducing heat soak onto oil lines and actually ensuring that oil and other fuel lines remain at the optimal temperature of which your engine needs. Other protection can include; heat wrap for wires and wiring looms. This will not only protect from harmful heat energy but will also reduce the chance of these cables becoming damaged from rubbing. One safety-critical reflective heat protection that we see very commonly is brake line heat wrap. The idea behind this is to keep the brake fluid inside at a cool temperature, meaning that brake fade and brake fluid boiling will become a thing of the past when the brake lines run throughout the hot engine compartment or exhaust.

Exhaust insulation wraps are constructed using a mixture of different polymers exhaust insulation wool to create a thermal sleeve ideal for exhaust temperatures.

Still not sure? Heard the exhaust wrap myths? Breath easy, if exhaust insulation wrap is applied correctly, with a consistent overlap and a tight fitment, there will be no heat spots meaning that the metal walls remain a consistent temperature and so the entire exhaust manifold / system will expand and contract at the same rate, maintaining a safe fitment and lifespan. Other exhaust wrap problem myths include, “exhaust wrap will crack your exhaust due to holding the moisture”. Wrong. In a way, Insulation wrap may act like a damp cloth, but this will only be the case if you have intentionally soaked the wrap (something we encourage when applying heat wrap). But, you will notice, after the first heat cycles, it may be common to see the exhaust wrap smoking. This is normal and is just showing the excess moisture and chemicals in the wrap escaping. Smoke is normal and will die away after the first runs of your car. This shows that the moisture will not cause an issue, as it will quickly disappear once warm.
